I don’t know about many of you but I have always been more on the spiritual side of life rather than the religious side.
I believe in the whole and that we are all one. I believe that we see in others what we like and/or dislike about ourselves and we are all mirroring each other. I believe we meet each person for a reason and there are lessons to be learned no matter how big or small. I believe there is a force higher and bigger than us that lives within us. We have access to it at any given moment. I believe that our thoughts create our reality and like Henry Ford said, “Whether you believe you can or can’t, you are right”.
My mind has been a bit blown lately as I have been studying Kundalini yoga, Waldorf education and a solution focused life coaching program. The brain… Oh. my. gosh. OUR BRAIN!!! Without having to write a novel on my love for researching the brain… I can share a little of my reaction to my studies. It is seriously the most fascinating, brilliant, elaborate thing. It controls what we see by what we think or are programmed to see. It creates habits and programs that can limit us or set us free. What we think is what our brain shows us. If we are always thinking of the color yellow we are going to notice it all over, even though there might be just as much blue as there is yellow. We see what we focus on. I can’t help but say, HOLY GUACAMOLE. So you are telling me that if I complain that I am never going to have enough money then I am always going to live in a state where I never have enough money? Correct. Complaining that you have no money ignites a simultaneous reaction from both the brain and the universe to keep money out of our vision, life, and reality. It is law.
Then I am over here learning that Kundalini Yoga works with the central nervous system and can clear all of these blocks or programmed beliefs by a powerful combination of asanas, pranayam, mantras, mudras and meditations. Wait, what? Yes. Kundalini Yoga can unite you with your soul faster than anything I have ever experienced. I have literally felt my Kundalini rise and got hot all over by simply sitting in an easy meditation. I have seen the blue light in meditations and I have seen my life change dramatically in the best ways possible since beginning a consistent practice.
The thing is that in life we all have control over our reality. We can choose how we we react at any given moment. We hold the power even though it might seem scary to actually take FULL responsibility of your emotions and life. Yes, I am saying no more blaming your faults and mishaps in life on others or justifying your life away. It is an exhausting way to live.
I invite all of you today to focus on becoming aware of your thoughts. Focus on how you feel when you are thinking these thoughts and what reaction you typically get. Do you complain often? Do you focus on things you love? What do you notice about your life thats working right now? What do you wish more than anything in the world was in your life right now? Are you constantly thinking the opposite of what you actually want?
Know that you are always improving in any given moment and to embrace the present moment. Take life one thing at a time and shift your thoughts to what you DO want away from what you don’t want, one thought at a time. Take time to find things you love about your life and focus on those as much as humanly possible. Great things will come of that.
"Kundalini Yoga is not a religion. Religions come out of it. Kundalini Yoga is not a fad, and it's not a cult. It's a practice of experience of a person's own excellence, which is dormant and which is awakened."
